Humans can see millions of shades of color. (some people that have a fourth cone in their eyes instead of the usual 3, can see up to 100 million shades!)

Benjamin Moore has a couple of thousand colors to choose from.  Sherwin Williams, more than 1,500. 

If you want to pick your own, you can bring in a photo or small object and they can scan it at their stores to provide your own unique color.  (perhaps you’d like to name it yourself too.)  You can go to their sites, as hyperlinked above to start doing your color research.
